The winegrowers de Buzet
The Buzet wine region is located in the Land of Albret between the Garonne and the Landes forest. On the slopes around the village of Buzet-sur-Baïse, they produce red, rosé and white AOC wines (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlé). The red wines are both powerful and fleshy and are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. For sporty wine lovers, the vineyard tour in early September, for cyclists and hikers, is highly recommended.
Wines of Bergerac
Monbazillac and Pécharmant are the two best known wine regions around Bergerac. The "Maison des Vins" is an almost obligatory stop during your visit to Bergerac and is located in the middle of the historical centre, in the Recollets monastery, a beautiful monastery building from the 17th century.
Castle Monbazillac
The 16th-century castle is classified as a world heritage site and also houses the wine museum. The building presents a unique and original architecture, a mixture of medieval defensive systems and Renaissance elegance. The property is owned by a cooperative wine cellar, which takes care of the magic of the property and keeps the castle open to the public.
